WhatsApp Three Red Ticks Viral Message is Fake: PIB Fact Check

WhatsApp, like other major social media
platforms, has become a source of news and
other information for several people. But,
same as most other social media platforms,
misinformation and fake news are rampant on
the chat app. Most recently, a viral message
stating that the number and colour of
‘ticks' on messages in WhatsApp indicates
that the government is taking notice of those
messages was being circulated. This piece of
information has now been quashed by the Press
Information Bureau (PIB) on Twitter. PIB is
a government agency that disseminates
information to media on government plans,
policies, and more.
The message claims that WhatsApp displays three blue ticks to indicate the government has noticed a particular message, two blue and one red tick to indicate the government can take action on that particular message, one blue and two red ticks to indicate the government has already initiated action against the sender of that particular message and three red ticks to indicate the government has taken severe action on the sender and a court will summon the individual.

व्हाट्सएप ने अपने ब्लॉग में लिखा है कि एक ग्रुप चैट में, दूसरा चेक मार्क तब दिखाई देता है जब ग्रुप के सभी मेंबर को आपका मैसेज मिल गया हो। ग्रुप में सभी मेंबर द्वारा आपके मैसेज को पढ़ने पर दो ब्लू चेकमार्क दिखाई देते हैं।
प्रेस इनफार्मेशन ब्यूरो (PIB) ने ट्विटर पर इस अफवाह को खारिज कर दिया और कहा कि सोशल मीडिया पर प्रसारित मैसेज 'व्हाट्सएप सूचना से जुड़ी √ टिक #FAKE है। #PIBFactCheck: नहीं! सरकार ऐसा कुछ नहीं कर रही है। मैंसेज #FAKE है। अफवाहों से सावधान!
Two blue and one red ticks means the government can take action, one blue and two red means the government is "screening your data" and three red ticks mean the government has initiated action against you and you will receive court summons, the message claims.
